Abstract
In the era of globalization and increasing intercultural interactions, cultural industries play a significant role as an effective tool in cultural diplomacy in promoting mutual understanding between societies. This research, using the Exploratory Sequential Mixed Method and SWOT analysis technique, has examined the status of Iran's cultural industries in cultural diplomacy and presented an appropriate strategy. This method uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods simultaneously. In the qualitative part, data was collected through a documentary-library study and structured interviews with 15 academic experts, and based on that, key factors affecting cultural industries were identified. Then, in the quantitative part, the statistical population included 80 cultural practitioners in different fields of cultural industries, and the importance of these factors was measured through a Likert questionnaire. The findings of the study show that in the assessment of external factors, the threats facing cultural industries outweigh their opportunities, and the external environment has created challenging conditions for this area. Also, the assessment of internal factors indicates that Iran's cultural industries face significant structural weaknesses. Accordingly, the strategy proposed by this study for cultural industries in cultural diplomacy is a defensive strategy (WT), which focuses on reducing internal weaknesses and confronting environmental threats. This strategy can help improve the position of Iran's cultural industries in the international arena and enable them to exploit challenges for growth and innovation.
