In the 20th century, great thinkers criticized modernity and its intellectual foundations and exposed the limitations of contemporary thinking. The prevailing situation in the West itself was to criticize and express the weaknesses of modern thinking. Intercultural philosophy as a new epistemological doctrine was created and motivated as a result of the need to respond to the heterogeneous reality of today's human life, and its goal is to establish peaceful, humanitarian and constructive communication in the field of real and inevitable differences. So that these differences are not violated. The current study was written with the aim of investigating the process of formation and the foundations of intercultural philosophy. In this regard, library method and descriptive research method have been used to collect information. The findings showed that the three dogmatic foundations of modernity, including grand narrative, fundamentalism, and essentialism, are considered to be fundamental factors in the formation of intercultural philosophy. Another finding of this research was that philosophy is created in the context of a culture and intercultural philosophizing is not an exception to this rule and has phenomenological and hermeneutic contexts.
